Oh What Do You Do In the Summer Time?

Summer is hands down our favorite. We love getting out and having fun!

This post has TONS of pictures so get ready.

We got a season pass to Discovery Gateway, children's museum. The girls both love it. It's darling with all sorts of cute interactive things for them to do.

Ella got to take swimming lessons this summer. She did two sessions. One at the country club and one private in someone's backyard. Private was definitely the way to go. She was able to go off the diving board by herself and get back to the top, she could float on her back for 20 seconds and blow bubbles and do her "ice cream scoop arms."
We got to go get pedicures with friends. Lucky girl.
The girls and I spent a day painting with pudding. So fun and SO messy.
We went up to play at the "beach" at Pineview. Ella had a blast making projects in the sand.
We celebrated the 4th of July by going to the Kaysville parade.
 Ready to catch some candy!
Had a BBQ and lit sparklers.

We also went to the Farmington Parade. I liked it even more.  A little smaller, more hometown feel.

Ella got to go on a special train ride to meet her very favorite person... Elsa (from Frozen.) The princesses did a sing a long and Elsa brought the microphone to Ella. She was star struck.

I am a  big believer in child labor.
We went to Lagoon with Grandma Spiers.
And Ella and I went on a "date night" to Lagoon. We went on every single ride there that Ella was tall enough for. She's a machine.
We went on our traditional Flaming Gorge family reunion trip with the Cook's.  Ella had a blast playing hard all day. I felt like I hardly saw her.
She was able to go on the tube like the big kids. Danny and I pulled the kids on behind the jet ski. Unfortunately, during a turn Ella went flying off the back. My heart dropped watching her little body go flying into the lake. We hurried back and she was crying but okay. And she wanted to get back on the tube and keep going. I was a proud mommy.
Ella found a new best friend, my cousin Breanna. They played amazingly well together. Ella stills brings up Breanna.
Right when we got home from Flaming Gorge we had Ella's birthday party (more on that later) and then Danny took off to Alaska. While he was gone the girls and I played hard. We had to stay busy or we'd go crazy. The Davis County Fair was going on so we got to ride on a real elephant. So cool!
And the girls got to ride a pony.

Ella and Kate have been playing so great together. (They fight pretty great too). Ella is an awesome sister. And so willing to take care of Kate.
 More fun at Lagoon.
Ella started preschool! My darling girl looks so grown up. She was so ready and so excited to go. She told me that she wouldn't even miss me or Kate because she'd be having too much fun. I'm so glad that she can have this fun thing to do!
She also got to start tumbling! She LOVES it!
Our family got to tour the Ogden Temple open house. Ella was so intrigued by everything and treated it all so special.
Danny's brother, Carl got married and Ella was a flower girl. She did a great job and took her job very seriously.
Love this picture (I'm so bummed it's blurry). Dancing with Daddy at the wedding.
My little Kate bug playing.
We really had a great time with this big fun swimming pool while it lasted.

We got a butterfly kit this summer. We were sent a cup of caterpillars and watched them turn into a cocoon and then emerge into butterflies. It was so neat to watch. I may have liked it more than the girls. Here we are saying good bye to them before we set them free.
My little beauty. I really need her to stop growing up!
My other little beauty. The girls had made a mess of the deck so I gave them soapy water and sponges and let them go wild.

Kate is a little monkey and knows right where we keep the snacks and treats. She is always sneaking into the pantry and opening the jars.

I LOVE moments like this. Eating popsicles. I love that Ella is helping Kate with hers.
We also did our traditional summer backyard campout.
Complete with s'mores.

Love these girls.

Cutest little pucker ever.
We took a trip up to Cecret Lake with Grandma and Grandpa Spiers. It was amazingly beautiful with the wildflowers and fresh air.

We made it to the lake! And a had a fun picnic.
Kate was tired of her carrier so Grandpa carried her down. I'll be honest this made my toes curl a bit but she survived.
Ella was an awesome hiker! She made it the whole way and loved it!

We made apricot jam. Ella was so excited that she was able to cut the apricots herself.

Both the girls absolutely LOVE playing dress up. Kate already will go into the drawer and pick out dresses she wants to wear and bring them to me.

Ella in one of her many outfit ensembles.  She does not lack creativity.
Playing out in the yard. In jammies.
Ella loves to craft and make projects. She was so proud of this castle she was putting together.
Wow that was a lot. Maybe I should update more often? I love this little family of mine and the little life we have together. Nothing is better than creating memories with these people and enjoying the little things.
