A few days ago we had such a day. And lucky for us, Danny decided to work from home so we got to have a fun family snow day.
We had yummy crock pot beef stew and homemade (in the bread maker) bread baking. It made the house smell great all day. That's what my mom always made when it was cold so it always signals to me the beginning of winter.
The beautiful view out my kitchen window. This picture doesn't do it justice. It looked like a Christmas postcard with all of the clean fluffy snow all over everything.
After nap time we went out to play. Ella was interested in having the snow land on her face.
We built a snowman. With Daddy involved it was much bigger than mom's attempt. You can't really tell in these pictures but Ella LOVED it! She kept giving it hugs and kisses.
Ella is so lucky to have a fun Daddy. As the sun was setting he pulled her all over the yard on her sled. She was in heaven. Wimpy mom hung out on the covered porch snapping pictures.
She took a couple of spills but didn't care - she just wanted to keep going!
When we were sufficiently frozen we came in and warmed up the fire.
And enjoyed our hot, yummy dinner.
I really love having a day with my whole little family home with no where to go and nothing pressing to do. A day to just snuggle up and enjoy each other. It doesn't get better than that.
