halloween

Halloween is such a fun holiday for kids! We had so much fun with Halloween with our girls this year. Ella was at a fun age to get excited as we counted down the days. From the moment we started talking about Halloween she decided she wanted to be a witch. And luckily, she didn't change her mind as Halloween drew closer. And because I really wanted to the girls to go together, Kate was a witch too.

And they made two of the cutest witches I've ever seen.
Backing up a little bit Ella had a little Halloween dance recital in class for the parents. She was so excited to wear her costume and perform.
They did some spooky Halloween dances for us. Ella demonstrated special skill and rode her broom backwards.

She spent a lot of the recital making wardrobe adjustments. All of those costumes were just too distracting to dance!
They also did a ghost dance and scared us!
A couple of nights before Halloween we did our traditional pumpkin carving/painting. Ella painted hers (I can't believe I don't have a picture! It was adorable!) and Danny took requests from Ella on what to carve.
So naturally we ended up with two princesses...Sophia and Cinderella.
The day of Halloween was full of excitement. We started with a joy school Halloween party in the morning.

Complete with a shape walk...
 fishing for treats...
and cookie decorating.
We came home while Kate took a nap and made a "spooky" lunch together. Ella got such a kick out of it. And of course, going with the theme of sugar for the day all she ate off her plate was the chocolate chip eyes and marshmallow teeth. Of course.
When daddy got home we went over to the Lagoon Trail to snap a few quick pics.
Then headed to Grandma and Grandpa Spiers to kick off the trick or treating.

We then went to Danny's parents for some soup and rolls.

Then the real excitement began! Kate was a trooper in her stroller for a while and then we headed home while Danny and Ella continued on.
They were gone for about an hour and half and went to nearly every house in the neighborhood! I was shocked she lasted that long.  She came home and dumped out her stash on the carpet to see what she had. That was always my favorite part as a kid too.
Such a fun holiday! Ella is already talking about next year and planning what she'll be.
